Spanish jazz and bossa nova trombonist, singer andsongwriter, Rita Payé, is one of the emergingtalents of the Sant Andreu Jazz Band, the nucleus from which some of the most promising youngmusicians on the jazz scene have emerged, such as AndreaMotis, Èlia Bastida and Magalí Datzira.

Daughter of musicians, her musical learning and trajectory began from her very beginnings.

She made her recording debut with a couple of albums alongside Joan Chamorro: Joan Chamorropresenta Rita Payés (Jazz to Jazz, 2015) and Lua Amarela (Jazz to Jazz, 2016), thus launching herinternational projection. Apart from that, she was part of the Sant Andreu Jazz Band between 2014 and 2018.

The affinity and affection led her to collaborate with guitarist Elisabeth Roma, her mother. They co-led and self-published two albums together : Imaginaand Como la piel,an album built on versionsand, for the first time, original songs influenced by jazz, bossa nova, bolero, classical music and popular songs.

In parallel, she has worked with a multitude of musicians from different fields. Her versatility as aninstrumentalist and singer has made her collaborate in various big band formations and countless jazz training projects. As well as her collaboration with the prestigious German big band“ WDR Big Band”,who dedicated a program to her with arrangements of her own songs; or the collaboration with the Clasijazz Big Band, which has recently been conducted by the renowned and admired Maria Schneider.

With her new albumDe Camino al Camino,Rita Payés makes her first publication exclusively ofherown compositions. A vital and musical path that culminates, for now, with the arrival of this album.

“Catalan jazz prodigyRita Payésblends tradition and innovation, weaving bossa nova and folk into asound that cements her place as one of Europe’smost captivating voices.”(The Line of Best Fit)
