The Mystery of Christmas: Carols by Candlelight

The Mystery of Christmas:

Carols by Candlelight

December 19th

Doors open 6.00pm

Service begins: 7.00pm

Union Chapel Church’s annual Christmas Carol Service tells the story of the birth of Jesus in words, poetry and prayer.  In the wonderful atmosphere of our iconic Chapel, lit entirely by candlelight, this service is a moment of calm and reflection away from the busyness of the Christmas season.

The service will include traditional carols together with well-known Gospel Christmas classics.  The music will be interspersed with spoken word, meditation and prayer.

Music will be provided by Union Chapel Voices, our in-house vocal group whose recent Black History Month event ‘Echoes’ was greeted with critical acclaim. A quartet of singers will perform the traditional carols and a chorus from The Messiah by Handel. A trio of actors will tell the story of the birth of Christ.

The service will be led by Rev Vaughan Jones, Minister of Union Chapel.

Whilst we will not be able to include the traditional congregational singing, to avoid risk, this will be a moving spiritual experience.

Admission free, no booking is required.

You are advised to come in good time to avoid disappointment.
