Amazonian Dreams: surrealist performance from Latin America

This event will bring the best of performance from Peru and Bolivia, employing puppetry, dance, and music to create a tapestry of dreams, vividly reassembling images of culture and homeland from the Latin American context.

Jose Navarro is a Peruvian puppeteer who uses the finest and most up to date techniques in puppetry to create stories and images which inspire, and which surpass the barriers of language.

Baila Peru UK are a London based Peruvian dance group, born out of London’s Peruvian communities need to strengthen their means of cultural expression through the traditional artistic dorm of dance. Their mission is to cultivate Peruvian heritage and to represent the diversity of Peruvian folklore in London and the UK.

Phaxsi Coca (unconfirmed) is a Bolivian musician specialising in traditional music, her main instruments being traditional flutes such as sikus, quenas, tarqas, pinquillos. Phaxsi often performs with her family trio, Sagrada Familia, comprised of her and her husband Kanti Quena (from Peru), and their twelve year old son Raymi Willka.
