The Bridge School's Heartwarming Story and Donations
6 January 2025
We were delighted to welcome SEND students from The Bridge School to the Wednesday 18 December drop-in session. A few weeks prior, one of the students noticed a homeless man on Holloway Road and asked his mum why the man was sitting on the ground. What followed was a call out to teachers, students and parents for donations of toiletries, food and clothing and The Margins Project was very fortunate to be the charity chosen to receive these donations.
The students arrived at Margins with a ‘reverse’ advent calendar and large bags full of treats for our homeless guests. They were given a tour of the Union Chapel and showed great interest in a local school's Christmas concert that was taking place, so we hope to welcome them back next year to join some festivities.
We feel so touched by the fact that a young boy saw someone struggling with homelessness and decided to take action and we are extremely grateful to him, the school and the wider Bridge Academy community for their help and support at what is always a particularly difficult time of year for those without a home.
Thank you Bridge School and a special thanks to SEND teacher David Diaz for making all this happen. Wishing you all a very Happy New Year from The Margins Project and Union Chapel.
If you have any unopened/unused items of the below, please consider donating as they will go a long way to supporting our guests facing homelessness and other pertinent social justice issues:
