Union Chapel Project's 2021-2022 Report

10 March 2023

Union Chapel Project presents its 21-22 report outlining our aims and achievements

Whilst the year remained a hugely challenging period for Union Chapel, the second year of the pandemic, we are enormously proud of our achievements in this period – from reopening as a venue with the highly acclaimed Celeste residency; to our ongoing support for the local community hardest hit; to our innovative creative social justice programmes such as Community Leaders and New Voices; and securing National Lottery Heritage Fund funding for the refurbishment and activity in our Sunday School.

The main aims adopted to achieve the charitable objectives are:
Conservation & Repairs: To conserve and repair the Union Chapel’s Grade 1 and Grade 2* listed buildings.
Community Engagement: To open Union Chapel to as many people as possible, from all walks of life.

Underpinning this, the organisation has four key aims:

Aim 1 - To curate and support a year round programme of popular and innovative cultural performances and activities to enrich London’s diverse communities.

Aim 2 - To strengthen relationships within and between these communities through participative and transformative projects for social change.

Aim 3 - To repair and conserve the Grade I and Grade 2* listed buildings to the highest standard for future generations to use and enjoy.

Aim 4 - To achieve financial independence and sustainability through using our space to its greatest potential.
