Union Chapel Project's New Managing Director

Union Chapel Project's New Managing Director

12 November 2025

Union Chapel Project is pleased to announce the appointment of Kathryn Dixon as Managing Director on an interim basis, as they plan towards the appointment of a permanent post holder in 2026.

Founded in 1991, Union Chapel Project (UCP) is a dedicated secular heritage and civic charity established to safeguard, restore, and open up the historic Grade I and II* listed Union Chapel in Islington, North London, as a vibrant centre for music and other arts, heritage, community, and social projects. Union Chapel Congregational Church, while holding its own charitable status, remains a core foundation of the Union Chapel family.

Kathryn Dixon has been a Trustee of Union Chapel Project (UCP) since 2015, knows the organisation and its stakeholders very well and is also a long-standing member of the Committee of the Friends of Union Chapel.

She has had 20 years’ experience in business, where she has held executive management roles, successfully leading diverse groups of people and building multi-disciplinary teams with a focus on fundraising, marketing and client relations. She had an early career in the theatre and has always maintained a love of music and live performance.

Ken Beech, Chair of Union Chapel Project, says, “I am delighted that Kathryn has agreed to take up this post. The Board are keen to see our management team supported as we approach completion of the £3.2m Sunday School Stories project, renovating our Sunday School Hall so that we can expand our cultural and community programme in the revitalised space. Kathryn brings excellent business credentials, a deep understanding of our organisation, and personal experience of the performing arts.”

Kathryn says, “People love the Union Chapel for many reasons – and I am no exception. I look forward to working with our amazing team as we embark upon a new chapter in the life of this iconic, special and vital place; a place that feeds the soul in more ways than one.”
