Asylum and refugees
Asylum and refugees
We offer:
- English and culture classes to help asylum seekers integrate into UK society
- Humanitarian fund to support asylum seekers in desperate situations
- Exercise and wellbeing activities including football, cricket, and visits to local attractions
- Legal advice through our partnership with Praxis
- Casework and advocacy for those navigating the asylum system
- Practical support such as warm coats, sim cards, and train tickets to urgent appointments
Some of those we meet through this project choose to join our church. We offer a warm welcome to our Sunday Services for those interested in exploring the Christian faith, with opportunity for conversation and faith development.
Can you help us?
We are regularly seeking volunteers to help with our work, whether teaching English or providing a warm welcome at our weekly drop in. If you would like to find out more about volunteering please contact [email protected]
Union Chapel's Welcome Project has supported over 1000 asylum seekers in the last three years. But now we have lost our funding and urgently need your support to continue our work. We are applying for alternative grant funding but we need £8,000 each month to provide this support. In order to help things along we have set up a Go Fund Me Page. Just a small donation can make a big difference. With your help we can keep providing a warm welcome and friendly community to people fleeing persecution, and support people to navigate life in the UK. Please use this link and share it with others to donate.
