An evening of talk, meditation and music

This is the first of a series of events during Lent in which we ask how we are and can be a ‘Beloved Community’.  This is an idea much loved by Dr Martin Luther King Jnr.

In the time following Dr King’s assassination, we have become increasingly aware of the need to build resilience from within our diversity.  Bringing our separate experiences into a living, open community of people committed to social, racial, economic and climate justice enables us to be strong in challenging times.

Join us in our exploration of who we are and who we can be as seekers after a new way of being in the world.

Speaker:                              Richard Reddie

Richard Reddie is a writer, researcher, and cultural commentator.  His articles have appeared in many national publications including The Times and The Guardian.  He is the author of Abolition! The struggle to abolish slavery in the British colonies, and Black Muslims in Britain, which was turned into a BBC Radio 4 documentary.  He is also the author of a biography of Martin Luther King entitled Martin Luther King Jr History Maker.

He is a Director of Churches Together in Britain and Ireland.

Music from:                       Ogo Ajala

The evening will include a meditation.

This event is taking place in the Union Chapel Bar.
