Our Christmas events are the perfect way to get yourself in to the festive spirit

CARA DILLON | Tuesday 6 December
One of the most celebrated folk voices to have come out of Ireland brings her acclaimed annual Christmas show Upon A Winter’s Night performing a collection of songs ancient and modern providing a welcome reminder that the festive season can be about more than just commercialism. A far cry from 'Jingle Bells' and 'Santa Baby' Cara will be joined by her wonderful band who weave celtic and folksy rhythms alongside reverent and atmospheric carols while Cara holds the darkness at bay with the purity of her voice

“Simple and stunning” (The Sunday Times) | “An instant Christmas classic” (BBC) | “Enchantment aplenty” (★ ★ ★ ★ The Independent)

BLUE CHRISTMAS | Wednesday 14 December | FREE
A space for quiet reflection, prayer, and meditation. We know that while Christmas is a time of new birth, it can also be a time of anxiety and sadness. We think of loved ones who may be living away from us, or those who have died. Maybe our personal circumstances are tough, and we cannot afford to join in the excesses of the season. Or we feel the need to avoid the sentimentality and commercialism without obscuring the beautiful message which comes from faith. This is a quieter service sensitive to people who need time in a reflective space during this season and will inclue music, poetry, and meditation, led by Rev Vaughan Jones with organist Anthony Fort

CAROLS BY CANDLELIGHT The Mystery of Christmas | Sunday 18 December | FREE arrive in good time to avoid disappointment
In the wonderful, candlelit atmosphere, Rev Vaughan Jones leads this service is a moment of calm and reflection away from the bustle of the Christmas season, including traditional carols together with well-known Gospel Christmas classics, interspersed with spoken word, meditation and prayer telling the amazing story of Christmas. Music will be provided by Union Chapel Voices, directed by Masashi Fujimoto, our in-house vocal group who are gaining an excellent reputation from the stunning performances in the Chapel. Musical accompaniment will be provided by a string quartet and Anthony Fort, Union Chapel organist.

And of course…we hope that you too will join in the singing of popular carols.
