On the trail of nomadic peoples and the ancient Silk Roads, three skiers and boarders embark on an expedition to reach one of the most remote parts of Asia: the Tien Shan mountains, on the Kyrgyzstan-China border. Facing wild mountain landscapes, wild weather patterns and wild animals, the trio battle hostile conditions to ski stunning lines down truly immaculate peaks.

Reel Rock: DNA

29-year-old climber Seb Bouin has been quietly working his way through the elite grades, culminating in his attempt to establish a long pitch out of an overhanging cave in the Verdon Gorge of France. His proposed line is so futuristic, the moves so improbable, that if Seb can put it all together it may be the most difficult route ever climbed.

Soundscape
14 minutes

Soundscape shares the sightless experience of climbing a mountain via echo location, touch and imagination. It features Erik Weihenmayer, a fully blind adventure athlete and author, as he ascends a massive rock face deep in California’s Sierra Nevada mountains. Using expert camera work and emotive, novel animation, the film is a surprising and soulful adventure.

PIONEERS: TANDEM XC SKIING
20 minutes

Two friends in search of vindication. After winning the Birkebeiner – the largest cross-country ski race in North America – Joe Dubay was disqualified for wearing the wrong bib. Now, 11 years later, Joe and his former roommate Chris return to the Birkebeiner to pioneer a new sport: tandem cross-country skiing. A story about bending the rules, this film bounces between hilarious and 'actually really impressive.’
