Guided Tour of Union Chapel | 11am - 12.15pm

Guided Tour of Union Chapel

SATURDAY 9 SEPTEMBER, 11am - 12.15pm

Take a walk within our walls and learn about the 200+ year history, ongoing building conservation, what events you can come enjoy, and our plans for our future as we continue our work for culture, community, heritage and social justice.

The organ at Union Chapel was designed & built specially for the size and acoustics of the new Chapel building in 1877 by master organ builder Henry 'Father' Willis. It is one of very few organs left in the UK with a fully working water hydraulics and is undoubtedly one of the finest organs in the world. Since its full restoration in 2012 Union Chapel has been committed to introducing different age groups & different skill levels to the instrument as they endeavour to create a smooth & supported path from childhood to professional organ performance and composition of all genres.

There will also be screenings of a short heritage film for you to enjoy.

We also offer free entrance at the door for self-guided tour of the chapel.

All are free to join us for documentary 'Organ Stops - Saving the King of Instruments' screening in our bar from 13.15-14.30.
